WILLIe Jay Healey GOES “143”

SINGER/Sonwriter extra-ordinaire Wille J Healey releases his “143” EP today, his first on release in a new trajectory with V2 Records.

Always lively, drenched in groove and full of passion: on '143', Willie brings together 4-track home recordings with other songs he made in New York with producer Loren Humphrey, the man behind his acclaimed 2023 album Bunny. With vintage textures, astute lyrics and a unique view of the world in which the observing and the romantic are intertwined, Willie once again manages to tap into something universal.

He goes on about the EP and says: "143 is a collection of recordings from different recording sessions. Some were recorded entirely at home on my 4-track recorder, others were shot with Loren Humphrey in New York. I like to make my own kind of mixtape. A compilation of my favorites! I named it 143 because a friend messaged me with that code and it took me a while to realize that it means "I love you." I thought: hey, that's a nice way not to be too sentimental. I think 143 was mainly used in the days when people still had pagers. The songs and recordings really don't have a lot of bells and whistles, they're all pretty straightforward – we wanted to get the message across as directly as possible. It's my most 'Neil'-like work so far. It feels liberating to release material that I made at home, together with material from New York... It actually fits my style better than previous releases!"
