The Kettering-based band Temples are today releasing their brand-new single ‘Vendetta’, taken from their upcoming studio album BLISS – due out on 26 June via V2 Records. The track explores new electronic directions whilst remaining true to the band’s core DNA, making it their most adventurous and liberated record to date.
Following their impressive debut release ‘Jet Stream Heart’ – which immediately received reviews from the likes of NME, The Times and Clash, was supported by Elton John on Apple Music 1 and received airplay on NPO 3FM and KINK – ‘Vendetta’ combines raw guitar riffs with laser-like synths and a sparkling, danceable melody. Originally conceived as two separate ideas, the track only found its true identity when the band merged the two contrasting halves, resulting in a sound that is exciting and unpredictable.

Designed to literally get the listener moving, ‘Vendetta’ perfectly captures the essence of the album – a sensory flow that feels both resistant and irresistible, pulling you in multiple directions at once. Singer James Bagshaw explains: “Suddenly we had an almost Justice-Daft Punk-style sample that then transitions into something that could be a modern interpretation of dance music, like a track by David Guetta or Avicii.”
The new album marks an exciting new chapter following Exotico (2023), and sees the band reinterpret their psychedelic rock roots through the lens of late ’90s and early 2000s dance music. In doing so, they draw inspiration from the euphoric melancholy of the Ibiza scene and European electronica, whilst remaining true to their own DNA. Inspired by the emotional pull of artists such as Faithless, Underworld, Massive Attack and Portishead, BLISS explores what Temples describe as melancholic euphoria: simple structures that lead to complex emotions.
Whereas the band collaborated with guest producer Sean Ono Lennon on Exotico, BLISS felt like an album that could only be produced by Temples themselves. They embraced a more intuitive, hands-on approach: working together in a single room, improvising and experimenting. In doing so, they used samplers not to rework other people’s material, but to distort their own songs and fuse them into a single sonic palette. The result is an album that feels like a collage: interconnected, with motifs and textures that flow through the tracks.
The band are returning to the live stage with three headlining dates in the Netherlands in November. They will also be embarking on an extensive tour of the US, the UK and Europe (all dates & tickets can be found here).
