Melle returns with new album ‘Before I Lose It’ in January
Dutch singer-songwriter Melle is back with his second album, ‘Before I Lose It’, out January 30, 2026, via V2 Records. After spending months writing and experimenting, Melle distilled his creative chaos into a body of work that feels both intimate and fearless. The kind of album that sits with you, quietly but deeply.
Melle’s music has always felt close, like a friend sitting next to you, sharing something real. His voice is soft, but his words cut deep. “I want to colour outside the lines” he says. “It makes the process a hundred times more fun because anything goes. Weird instruments, ‘ugly’ sounds, mistakes, they give the music life. The more I polish it, the less emotion is left.” It’s that sense of imperfection that defines ‘Before I Lose It’. Melle plays more than 20 instruments himself, crafting a sound that’s entirely his own. The record explores themes of love, self-image, identity, and inequality, a personal journey with a social edge.
The lyrics on ‘Before I Lose It’ dive deep into Melle’s own experiences, long-term relationship, identity, and the weight of modern life. He touches on inequality, discrimination, and the effects of capitalism, but always through a deeply personal lens. That balance between vulnerability and awareness gives the album its emotional core: it’s universal, yet unmistakably his.
Musically, Melle draws inspiration from Sam Fender, Phoebe Bridgers, and Tom Odell, yet his roots trace back to The Beatles, Coldplay, and ABBA, a mix that explains the lush harmonies and catchy melodies beneath his introspective lyrics. The result is an indie pop album with sharp edges and a clear signature. For Melle, that individuality is the whole point. “Make your own kind of music” he says. “That’s what this album is about, trusting my instincts and believing in the path I’m walking. I want to make music people can cry to.”
