Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir releases new single ‘Ferris Wheel’

On ‘Ferris Wheel’, Ásgeir reflects on making long held dreams a reality. the new single was released last Wednesday, September 17th.

The song is an anthem of quiet optimism, born from conversations with his girlfriend about abandoning the familiar and pursuing long-held dreams. “I feel like I haven’t been allowing myself to dream about the future for a long time, I’ve just been stuck in the same old ways. So it’s good to be able to dream again.” It is a song about feeling the desire to change things up.

Ásgeir is one of the most successful Icelandic singer-songwriters and has always pushed the boundaries of his thoughtful brand of folk-pop. His debut album became the best-selling debut in Icelandic history, which lead to the English version in 2014. In recent years, Ásgeir has embraced solo performances, playing nearly 70 intimate shows across Europe, the Nordics, and Iceland, including a UK tour with Icelandic singer GDRN.

This new single is part of Ásgeir’s upcoming album ‘Julia’, which will be released on February 13th via One Little Independent Records.
