Young Sydney Minksy Sargeant surprises with new album

When Minsky Sargeant (who usually goes by Syd) was a teenager growing up in Todmoron, West Yorkshire, he started working on the 12 songs that now form ‘Lunga’. It is the first album the Working Men’s CLub Frontman releases under his own name and is out now.

The glistering melodic songs offer a deeply personal insight and through the record’s unique personality, there are also delicate flourishes of Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, Bon Iver, Bill Callahan, and Robert Kirby’s lush string arrangements as drowsy, ethereal sounds hover in the background. Syd co-produced ‘Lunga’ alongside long-time collaborator Alex Greaves and plays most of the instruments on the record.

Sydney Minksy Sargeant has metamorphosised into one of the most original, fearless, and creatively ambitious talents. He is the real deal. And he is only 23 years old.

With ‘Lunga’, an audacious, singular vision is realised and is now out in the open.
