Luvcat releases debut album ‘Vicious Delicious’
Today, rising seductress of the underground Luvcat releases her much-desired debut album, ‘Vicious Delicious’, via AWAL.
‘Vicious Delicious’ is a whirlwind ride through love, lust and the lunacy in between. Written between Parisian escapades, impromptu studio sessions, and whirlwind romances, the record fuses dark fairytale storytelling with jazz, punk romanticism, and a splash of gothic sparkle. From fan-favourite murder ballads (‘He’s My Man’) to sex-tape serenades (‘Love & Money’) to the delicious danger of the title track, it’s a no-holds-barred debut form an artist quickly becoming a cult icon. Speaking on her debut, Luvcat adds: “Making this album happened accidentally. Amongst the madness of the last year I decided I didn’t wanna fuck around with EP’s or mixtaps. I really wanted to make my first proper statement and when I found out Halloween fell on a Friday, I knew we had to be fast to get it together. Its lipsticks a little smudged and its stockings are a little torn, but I am so proud of how we’ve captured this strange, magical story and all the lovers and libertines I’ve met along the way. I think the record is old school romance slightly off its hinges. A swinging pendulum between love and addiction, ecstasy and melancholy, eroticism and innocence, the deliciously vicious and the viciously delicious.”
Luvcat lives for a splash of the bizarre. Raised on a simultaneous diet of Nick Cave and Cabaret, The Cure and The Rat Pack, she grew up equally enthralled with both the gothic and the glamorous. My Chemical and Robert Smith’s Beetlejuice-esque outfit in the video for ‘Lullaby’ remain formative influences, but so too does the sparkle of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and the fabled streets of Pairs with their giddy, anything-is-possible allure. Mix together Halloween and Valentine’s Day and somewhere in the middle you’ll find Luvcat, uniting the two in a flurry of theatrical playfulness and high stakes desire. And it’s into this pendulum swing of “light and dark, love and addiction, innocence and kink” that her world-building debut arrives, risking it all in the pursuit of pleasure.
Since her explosive debut with ‘Matador’, Luvcat has seduced a fast-growing global fanbase with her intoxicating mix of noir glamour, heart-on-sleeve vulnerability and razor-sharp wit. In just over a year, she’s racking up 46 million career streams, sold out tours across the UK, EU, and US, and amassed a devoted following who dress like her, quote her lyrics, and travel continents to be part of the myth.
