Jon Allen has never been content to be pigeonholed, as demonstrated by the eclecticism of his albums to date. Allen is a gifted lyricist and a true craftsman of song. His new single continues this trend exploring the story of a missing person and the exploration of self. “As I was writing the songs for my new album the UK news was dominated by the tragic story of a missing person. With ‘Back To The River’ I was trying to put myself in the mind of this individual and what they must have been going through. The song is also about the idea of going back to nature and back to your original self, wiping the slate clean and starting a new.”
Allen’s breakthrough came after he performed on BBC TV’s Later with Jools Holland. Since then he has toured with many of the musical greats including Mark Knopfler, Emmylou Harris and Dionne Warwick to name but a few. He has also established himself as an acclaimed songwriter for other artists.
