The track ‘Young Hearts’ is a powerful anthem of rebellion and authenticity, calling on listeners to break free from convention and embrace their own voice. Alongside the new music, the artist also announced this week that he will be performing at Paradiso in Amsterdam next February; tickets hereTo record the album, the band retreated to a cottage at the foot of Mont Ventoux, where, under the name ‘Studio La Pichounette’, they set up a fully DIY recording process. This approach resulted in a rawer, more direct sound with a distinct sense of band chemistry.
For those unfamiliar with Louis De Roo’s (real name) work: Louis writes songs about the moment when youth slowly gives way to something that resembles adulthood. A sense of nostalgia for adolescence creeps through his music, just as the realisation that growing up is rarely a gentle process. Following appearances at Pukkelpop, Rock Werchter, Eurosonic, and the release of his debut album Troubled Waters, Isaac Roux is deliberately seeking out the rough edges. His sound is becoming looser, faster and more lo-fi: screeching guitars, bold arrangements and rhythms that keep driving forward. There are echoes of Beach Fossils, the melancholy of The Cure and the dreamy, psychedelic layers of Tame Impala. Always filtered through his own, unpolished perspective.
