Guido Belcanto signs to V2 Records and releases single

“Do you know of any other artist who even remotely resembles or sounds like Guido Belcanto? I certainly don’t. I can only think of one, and that’s because, as far as I’m concerned, there’s only ever been one. And, as it happens, his name is also Guido Belcanto.” So said the wise Belgian Marc Didden recently, director, screenwriter, music journalist and a close friend of Guido Belcanto.

Guido Belcanto proves once again that he is one of a kind with ‘Een Klap Op Je Kop’, the first single from his new album due for release this autumn on V2 Records. 'Een Klap Op Je Kop' is a free adaptation of “Kick in the Head”, a little-known track by Loudon Wainwright III. Guido has transformed this quiet piano piece into a pounding, rocking uptempo song. A story that is entirely applicable to Guido’s own life. “I’ve been through this situation myself. You can safely call this song autobiographical, that’s for sure,” says Guido himself.

In today’s world (it is now summer 2026), where the crack of gunfire, child murder, hunger and death have once again become daily news items, there is one remedy that is guaranteed to help: the song of life. For once, write it with a capital letter: The Song of Life” – Marc Didden.
