FRIDAY signs deal with V2 Records and releases new single
Amsterdam-based indie-pop duo FRIDAY have found a new home at V2 Records. They also release their brand new single ‘Empty Skies’ today.
‘Empty Skies’ captures the quiet magic of being suspended in the present moment. It’s about that weightless feeling when everything briefly makes sense. Driving down an empty road at night, no destination, no questions, just wind through the window and a smile you didn’t expect. It’s the freedom of disappearing into the now, of letting go of what was and breathing in a universe that briefly feels like yours. At the same time, the song is a love letter. Not the grand, cinematic kind, but a gentle realization that you no longer need to chase anything because everything you are looking for is already besides you.
FRIDAY began as a late-night project between longtime friends Koen and Quinten and has grown into one of the Netherlands’ most distinctive indie acts. FRIDAY started as a place where friendship, restlessness, and the desire to escape the ordinary collided. Their songs carried that freedom with them as the duo rose through the ranks. But success often comes with pressure, and the band felt their initial sense of freedom fading. They took their time to reflect and FRIDAY have broken loose, creatively, emotionally, and musically. The duo return sounding more urgent and unapologetic than ever. Their new work dives deeper into the shadows, darker, rawer, and more honest.
FRIDAY will bring their new sound to the stage across the Netherlands next spring:

10-04 | TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht
