Douwe Bob shares message of love with new single ‘What The World Needs Now’

As the days get darker and the year moves towards its end, Dutch singer-songwriter Douwe Bob offers a musical embrace for the winter months. Today he released his heartfelt new single ‘What The World Needs Now’, a timeless classic written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach, now reimagined with Douwe’s unmistakable warmth and sincerity.

Recorded at Exalto Studios in Haarlem, this new version brings together his trusted band and features a striking performance by renowned trumpeter Rik Mol (Metropole Orkest, Gregory Porter, Rob de Nijs). The result is a rich, soulful song that feels both nostalgic and powerfully current. A reminder that love remains the one thing we can’t have too much of. “Especially in these times, and during the dark month of December, this is what the world needs.” With global tensions rising and everyday life getting increasingly hectic, ‘What The World Needs Now’ arrives as a gentle pause, a hopeful reset, and a musical reminder of what connects us.

2025 was a milestone year for Douwe Bob. His theatre tour I Believe in Fairy Tales sold out venues across the Netherlands and is coming to its end. In October, he filled a sold-out Concertgebouw with The Story of Country, a special production exploring his deep love for the genre. That show will continue in 2026 with performances both in the Netherlands and abroad.

And there’s more on the horizon: Douwe Bob recently announced a brand-new studio album which will be released in 2026, alongside the first dates of his Outcast Town Club Tour:

17-04 | Paard, The Hague

19-04 | Luxor Live, Arnhem

22-04 | Hedon, Zwolle

23-04 | Paard, Heerlen

24-04 | Effenaar, Eindhoven

30-04 | Victorie, Alkmaar

02-05 | Metropool, Hengelo

09-05 | Het Depot, Leuven (BE)

With a message of love, a renewed creative spirit, and a busy year ahead, Douwe Bob closes 2025 with warmth and steps confidently into a new musical chapter.
