Puerto Rican indie duo Buscabulla heralds eagerly awaited second album ‘se Amaba AsíA’

Acclaimed Puerto Rican indie duo Buscabulla is excited to release their long-awaited second studio album, Se Amaba Así via Domino. Known for their evocative blend of electronic pop, Caribbean rhythms, and raw lyricism, co-founders Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle dive deeper than ever into their personal lives. On Se Amaba Así – which loosely translates to The Way They Loved – the duo turns their relationship into a musical lens, exploring the emotional complexities of love, intimacy, and creative partnership.

Se Amaba Así – which loosely translates to The Way They Loved – sees Buscabulla co-founders Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle devoting their eagerly awaited second album to the ruthless examination of their private life as a couple, instrumentalizing myriad strains of Latin music to explore their most intimate struggles as both artists and lovers. From the neo-doowop of “Mi Marido” to the distorted guitars of “Mortal,” the album pushes the duo’s shared sonic world through dark synthesizers, witchy vocal loops, and the sharp snap of live percussion to create a singularly universal record about the difficulties inherent in keeping a relationship alive at this moment in time.

“I don’t like fantasy,” Berrios says. “I very much like to write about real life. If art isn’t about putting yourself in this vulnerable position, then what is the point of making it? Why do you want to make art from a safe place?”

“You have a purpose, and you have to fulfill it,” Berrios concludes. “That’s what this new era is about.”

Buscabulla is a Puerto Rican experimental pop duo formed by singer and designer Raquel Berrios and multi-instrumentalist Luis Del Valle. Known for their genre-blending sound that fuses electronic textures with Caribbean rhythms and personal storytelling, the duo first gained attention with their self-titled EPs and critically acclaimed debut album Regresa (2020). Now based back in Puerto Rico after time in New York, Buscabulla continues to craft emotionally rich, sonically adventurous music that reflects both their cultural roots and inner worlds.
