Boy & Bear announce new album ‘Tripping Over Time’ and tour

The acclaimed Australian band Boy & Bear today announce their long-awaited new studio album ‘Tripping OVEr Time’, set for release on December 12 via V2 Records. The title track ‘Tripping Over Time’ is out now, available everywhere.

The album is about embracing life as it is, with all its contradictions, beauty, and chaos. The songs were recorded live, filled with real human energy and emotion. While optimistic in tone, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows; it’s honest, grounded, and at times raw. Each track carries a subtle tension without ever feeling heavy, inviting listeners to pause and appreciate the world’s beauty. ‘Tripping Over Time’ feels like one big celebration of joy, laced with a bittersweet, happy-sad energy. The band focuses on feeling rather than explaining: music that resonates on an emotional, not intellectual, level. The result is an album that feels both comforting and uplifting, with its eyes firmly set on the future.

The record also explores a more experimental, ‘trippy’ side of Boy & Bear. The songs take the listeners on a sonic journey you’ll want to relive over and over again, a form of escapism that mirrors life’s cyclical nature. The lyrics are poetic and open to interpretation, allowing everyone to find their own story within them. “Recording in our own studio for the first time gave us the freedom to slow down and really experiment, without the pressure of expensive studio time. It blurred the line between writing and recording, giving us a sense of freedom and an experimental spirit where we could chase ideas as they happened.”

Frontman Dave Hosking adds: “It’s about the subtle lessons of life. Often you don’t realise you’ve gone through something until you’ve truly experienced it. You keep learning, stumbling forward, and embracing the chaos with a smile. It’s optimistic, nostalgic and playful, just like life itself.”

With ‘Tripping Over Time’, Boy & Bear open a new chapter: warm, energetic, and full of creative freedom. The album reaffirms why, after more than fifteen years, the band remains one of Australia’s most beloved acts.

The single Tripping Over Time is available now on al streaming platforms.

The full album will be released on December 12 via V2 Records. The album is now available for pre-order. Those who pre-order have a chance to win a signed test pressing of the album and tickets for the band’s upcoming EU/UK tour.
