Blaudzun releases album ‘Best of blaudzun’, kicks off theatre tour and released his auto-biography
After nearly twenty years in the business, number-one albums, gold records, and a cabinet full of awards, Blaudzun remains an integral part of the Dutch pop scene. The singer, who recently made it to the quarterfinals of ‘De Slimste Mens’, is releasing Best Of Blaudzun today.

“It often feels like I’ve only just started, but I’ve actually been doing this for over twenty years now: writing, singing, recording, performing,” says Blaudzun. “This compilation is meant to celebrate those years. And it feels good to be back with V2 Records after a brief hiatus.”
‘Best Of Blaudzun’ features 17 tracks and is released on 12” double vinyl and double CD. In addition to well-known hits like “Promises of No Man’s Land,” “Hey Now,” and “Real Hero,” the album also features unmistakable Blaudzun classics such as “Heavy Flowers,” “Too Many Hopes For July,” and the intimate “Wolf’s Behind The Glass.”
“A collection like this is a wonderful document, for loyal fans and for new audiences alike,” says Blaudzun. “I myself discovered The Beatles and The Cure through compilation albums. It’s a great way to get started, like a gateway to the wider musical universe.” “For me, this album also marks the closing of a first musical chapter,” he continues. “I’m looking ahead, without time pressure, and am currently working on a new studio album.”
Alongside the album, the book ‘Blaudzun. In the Footsteps of a Pop Icon’ (De Bezige Bij) released 19 march this year. At the invitation of bestselling author Ronald Giphart, the Utrecht-based singer allowed himself to be followed for nearly two years during performances, international tours, at home, and behind the scenes. The result is a fascinating and in-depth book that reads like a cross between a pop biography and a road movie.

With the book and the greatest-hits album as his starting point, Blaudzun will be touring the country starting in April with his first solo theater show. An evening filled with familiar songs and personal stories that promise a rich glimpse into what Blaudzun himself describes as: “a universe of devilish music, religious traumas, and my passion for cycling. Plus, an answer to the question of why my glasses are so big.”
