Hollow Coves release new EP

Today, Brisbane indie folk duo Hollow Coves release their new EP 'Blessings' and share a special live performance video for the title track shot on Australia’s gorgeous Gold Coast. To celebrate the EP’s release, Hollow Coves will host an acoustic set on their YouTube Channel this Sunday, June 13th at 7 PM BST.

Written and recorded by the band in their home studio on the Gold Coast, Blessings came together during a time where togetherness felt far away. As the world paused and isolation became reality, Ryan and Matt turned inward, finding truths and stories in their respective pasts and putting them to song. From the emotional weight of “Evermore” to the horror story of a night gone wrong in “From the Second Floor,” Hollow Coves explore new territory, writing from a place of solitude for the first time.

“We had a bit of a different approach towards this EP. We didn’t really write these songs to fit together. We were just trying to write anything that came to us. Most of these songs were written during the Stay-at-Home COVID period. We also ended up recording and producing most of the songs ourselves. We built a small home studio and had to learn how to do everything from scratch. The process took quite a long time because we really had no idea what we were doing.”

Hollow Coves orchestrated everything from the ground up for a final collection of songs that found its sound through Ryan and Matt exploring the production side for the first time. In building their home-studio, the duo had a creative space to work through weeks of trial and error, landing on five songs that match their trademark rich harmonies, warm soundscapes and underlying feeling of positivity that is uniquely Hollow Coves.

The duo previously shared the singles “Hello” and “Lonely Nights” featuring US folk singer/songwriter Priscilla Ahn. “Lonely Nights” was accompanied by a music video that was shot on 16MM Bolex in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, a gorgeous and quiet fishing village turned premier surfing destination that has been home to the Olympus National Surfing Circuit Competition.

A dynamic indie folk group brimming with their passion for travel and observing different shades of the world, Hollow Coves first caught attention with their debut EP 'Wanderlust' (2017) followed by their 2019 debut full-length 'Moments' , whose songs were inspired by reflecting on a variety of moments and unforgettable shared experiences in their lives and the lives of those around them. They have since garnered more than 285 million streams, over 100 million views on YouTube and praise from the likes of Billboard, Clash, Sunday Times, OnesToWatch and more.
