Indie-rock band The Utopiates announce long-awaited debut album

V2’s very own rising indie-rock outfit The Utopiates announce their forthcoming 12-song debut album The Sun Also Rises will be released on the 5th of May.

Their last single Making History, which you can listen to HERE, is an energetic promise of what’s to come: "Making History epitomizes the confidence running through the band right now. From the get-go this project has been the self-fulfilling prophecy consuming our lives and ‘The Sun Also Rises’ will prove what we’ve always known. Making History was written from Dan’s bedroom at the dawning of The Utopiates and has basically become his mantra! ‘One day you’ll see, yeah they’ll look at me, I’m not up here making tunes I’m making history!’ Says it all really. It’s a big F-you to the quiet life and a rallying cry to the masses; get behind us, cos it’s happening!”

2022 was the year The Utopiates signed to V2 and were dubbed the band to watch by cult indie promoter This Feeling. A sold-out summer tour followed, and they finished the year completing work on their debut album ‘The Sun Also Rises’ (at The Nave in Leeds). The 12 track release will continue to push the boundaries of their unique brand of groove-laden powerhouse indie.

The Utopiates were formed under the dark clouds of the pandemic and only launched in January of 2021 but already the accolades are stacking up (BBC Radio 6 Music DJ, Steve Lamacq/ Radio X’s John Kennedy). They’re extremely confident that 2023 is the year they claim much wider attention and stake a serious claim as one of rock ‘n’ rolls brightest new talents.
