Caspar Auwerkerken is the new V2 signing

New single expected October 21th

V2 Records is very happy to announce the signing of the young Belgian talent Caspar Auwerkerken. Caspar just received the first Jan Mans Award by Muziekgieterij in Maastricht, their new annual incentive award for young talent. He also becomes artist in residence at both Muziekgieterij and Het Depot Leuven.

The wonderful voice of this 22-year old singer-songwriter  – sometimes leaning towards Thom Yorke – is suffused with dreamy arrangements and minimalist soundscapes. Earlier this year he released a beautiful song independently, called 'Hyacinth' that was well received in the press. “Struck the right chord. The sensitive.”, Eppo Janssen. “The young Hasselaar is a huge talent in our Belgian music world. We wouldn't be surprised if we hear a lot more from him in the future.", Dansende Beren. "Caspar Auwerkerken, remember that name because in a few years this boy will be the main program himself.", Luminous Dash.

First test recordings for a debut album have already started. The album is expected in the autumn of 2023. On Friday October 21st, we'll share a new single.

It was at the Bruis festival in Maastricht, Caspar Auwerkerken was the first artist to receive the Jan Mans Award. The award was named after the former chairman of the Supervisory Board, who has played an important role in the development of the Maastricht pop podium. With this award Muziekgieterij wants to encourage young artists, with their own original and relevant material, that are already actively working on their careers. In the spirit of Jan Mans' motto, they need to show 'passion, dedication and perseverance'. With the silver Jan Mans Award medallion, Caspar also received a sum of €3.500, that will benefit the production of his debut album, which will be released by V2 Records.

Caspar Auwerkerken is welcomed as Artist In Residence by the Muziekgieterij production house. The recordings for the album will be made in the in-house studio. At the same time, Auwerkerken also gets a residency in the Leuven concert hall Het Depot.

Mike Naert (Het Depot): "We discovered Caspar's beautiful voice on one of our Open Mic nights in the foyer of Het Depot. It's a mini-stage where a lot of talent has emerged, Selah Sue for example. Since then we have continued to follow Caspar with interest. When we were turning our long-standing friendship with Muziekgieterij into a real collaboration, Caspar also came to our attention. This seemed the ideal opportunity to start the cooperation between our two houses with a double residency for an artist that we are both fans of. Specifically at Het Depot, Caspar will be able to rely on an ideal context to create, but we will also be offering stage opportunities and helping to promote the launch of his career."

Caspar Auwerkerken: "I am delighted to receive the first Jan Mans award from Muziekgieterij. It is an extra honour because I regularly went to see performances in the Maastricht concert hall and have experienced many inspiring moments here. The fact that on top of that I can release my first album with V2 Records and count on extra support from Het Depot is just fantastic. I can't wait to start this adventure!”
