Alex G, the Philadelphia singer, songwriter, and producer Alex Giannascoli has surely created a buzz following his latest release ‘God Save The Animals’. Now Alex G releases a brand-new video for his song ‘Immunity’ before performing two live shows in Amsterdam.
‘God Save The Animals’, Alex G’s 2022 album release has been flooded with positive reactions. The album was called a “a tour de force” by Rolling Stone, while Vice called Alex G, “One of the most talented songwriters of his generation”.
Apart from Alex G’s brand new video for ‘Immunity’ he’s touring throughout Europe in March and April. Alex G is scheduled for two shows in Amsterdam. The 25th of March he will be performing in a sold out Tolhuistuin. His show on the 26th of march was planned for the Tolhuistuin as well but has been moved to Paradiso following the massive ticket sales. Alex G has also been announced to be performing on this years edition of Best Kept Secret.
‘God Save The Animals’ is an album more dynamic than ever in its sonic palette, beyond the ambient inspiration of pop, Giannascoli has been drawn to musicians like Gillian Welch and writers like Joy Williams in recent years, artists who balance the public and hermetic, the oblique and the intimate, and who present faith more as a shared social language than religious doctrine. Giannascoli achieves such balance in both text and sound, deploying quotation and varied vocal textures that present the given scenarios as immediate and distant at the same time. The songs “feel confessional to me,” he says, but “they’re not necessarily all true. I convince myself of things.” Filtering his experiences through fact and fiction, and through narrators with varying degrees of reliability.
