Dr Rubberfunk announces 'My Life At 45'

‘My Life At 45’ will be released February 14th, 2020

Dr Rubberfunk might not be medically trained, but he does know a thing or two about treating your ears, as he returns with his fourth album ‘My Life at 45’.

The eagle eyed will have spotted the connection to the good Doctor’s second album -  “My Life at 33” - and fans can do their own maths as to when they should expect the final RPM-punning release in the trilogy …

So what’s been going on since MLA33 dropped on Rubberfunk’s own GPS label back in 2006?

Well, having been chased for most of his early career, he finally signed to Jalapeno Records, who released his third opus “Hot Stone” in 2010.  Featuring the likes of John Turrell and London soul legend Roachford on vocals, it continued Rubberfunk’s journey to the heart of the connoisseur’s record collection.

Following that he took a back seat from life as the artist, working on 2 albums with side project the Olympic Cyclone Band, alongside producing for Jalapeno artists Alexia Coley and Izo FitzRoy.

The latter in particular was an extremely fruitful collaboration, resulting in her debut album “Skyline” – released in 2017, and played by BBC 6Music, JazzFM, FIP Paris, and NPR in the US, with Clash Magazine, Indie Shuffle, Eton Messy and La Belle Musique, also counting themselves among the album’s fans…

2018 saw Dr Rubberfunk step back into the limelight to release the first in a series of four ‘My Life At 45’ limited 7” singles - each of which have promptly sold out and won praise & support from the likes of Bandcamp, BBC 6Music, Fatboy Slim and Blues and Soul Magazine.

Having established himself in funk, soul, blues and jazz circles with a ton of high calibre releases, the good doctor holds a reputation for quality productions, with a hands-on approach, both in front of, and behind the mixing desk, as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and producer.

The new album brings together stunning vocals from John Turrell, Izo FitzRoy and Stephanie Whitelock, whilst the instrumental tracks, showcasing the talents of long-time collaborators Jim Oliver, Jonathon James and Ben Castle, make it clear just what a crack production outfit the Doctor has put together.

‘My Life At 45’ will be released 14.02.20 on vinyl LP, CD and digital formats at all good stores via Jalapeno Records.
