Daði Freyr releases video for Eurovision single '10 Years'

Eurovision heavyweight Daði Freyr delighted fans with the news that he would be participating once again in the lauded song contest for 2021. Following the premiere of his entry, “10 Years”, which is already proving to be the bookies favourite, Daði is now sharing the accompanying video. The video sees Iceland being destroyed by a monster, which Daði and Gagnamagnið (Daði’s Eurovision band) fight off with the power of their dance moves.

Having captured the world’s imagination, thanks to his infectious banger “Think About Things” and a striking similarity to Will Ferrell’s lead role in his Eurovision picture, Daði Freyr is returning on his own terms, specifically with Eurovision glory for Iceland in his sight.

Although last year’s contest didn’t go ahead, nothing could stop Daði’s irresistible rise as the people’s champion. His entry song “Think About Things” and its infamous dance routine became one of the biggest viral hits of the year, with over 75 million streams, #1 Shazam Discovery chart worldwide, a top 5 single in Ireland, top 40 in UK & Sweden, and reaching almost 1 billion people on international radio while landing on both BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 playlists in the UK. The accompanying video has been viewed over 24 million times and has picked up celebrity fans such as James Corden, Jennifer Garner, Russell Crowe and P!nk! whilst Hot Chip turned in the ultimate Summer dance-party remix.

"10 Years” picks up where “Think About Things” left off. Written about his wife - who is in Daði’s Eurovision “band” Gagnamagnið - it’s an uplifting celebration of the decade they’ve been together. After lush strings in the intro, a characteristically dance floor-ready bassline paves the way for a soaring staccato melody. ‘10 Years’ is sure to propel Daði Freyr towards the illustrious Eurovision Song Contest prize that he, and his host nation of Iceland, so desperately crave.

“10 Years” was released Saturday 13th March with the dance routine and first live performance happening simultaneously on Iceland’s TV show Straumar. For anyone wanting a stronger fix of Daði Freyr - and let’s face it, who wouldn’t want that? - later this year there will be a hologram that brings Daði into your home, a signature beer, figurines and so much more.
