Baauer launches video for new single 'REACHUPDONTSTOP'

Album 'Planet's Mad' out June 5th on LuckyMe

Harrison Rodrigues, the Portuguese New Yorker, London raised, 2x Platinum producer known as Baauer has spent the last 6 years releasing big tracks with big names (Jay-Z, Swae Lee, Missy Elliot, Elle Fanning. Jennifer Lawrence, Skepta, AJ Tracey, Lil Miquela, etc…), but on the forthcoming sophomore album “Planet’s Mad” he’s made an album rooted in the crossover acts he grew up listening to: Beastie Boys, Fatboy Slim, Justice, Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx and Daft Punk.

His music is loud and perfectly produced - showing flashes of modern hip hop and pop cutting through the boisterous electro, techno and breaks - Planet’s Mad sounds like nothing else, and yet the project encompasses the digital culture we live within. The music tracks with a story written by Baauer: where a mystical glowing planet appears just above Earth. Not knowing what to do - strange groups form to worship the planet, while others rally to destroy it. On the alien planet though, we meet a world of happy and funky creatures. The planet is Harry’s album: the loud and strange creation of Baauer. And the people going mad back on Earth are act as metaphor for social media, where stans war with critics as tracks go viral.

Today’s single REACHUPDONTSTOP uses a classic house hook for its foundation, showcasing all the ways dance music has morphed over the decades: passing through chopped breakbeats, bouncing jersey-club and floating trance before dropping back to rolling electro. It’s a wild ride that represents so many of Rodrigues’ influences. Within Harry’s plot for the album, the “REACH UP! DONT STOP!” hook belongs to a strange cult of kids meeting to party on the street. They reach up towards the planet: a Revolution 909 for 2020.
