Alexander Rybak, the winner of Eurovision Song Contest 2009, was born in Minsk (Belarus) May 13th 1986. He grew up at Nesodden just outside the Norwegian capital Oslo. Alexander has played violin and piano since he was five years old, he also compose his own music and sing. Alexander has performed with artists like Arve Tellefsen, Morten Harket, Hanne Krogh and Knutsen & Ludvigsen. In 2006 he won the Norwegian talent-show. ”Kjempesjansen” with his own song “Foolin’”. Alexander has performed with one of the worlds most celebrated violinists, Pinchas Zukerman, he has won Anders Jahres Culture Price and he’s concertmaster in Norway’s largest symphony orchestra for youths, Ung Symfoni, in Bergen. He also played the role of the fiddler in Fiddler On The Roof at Oslo Nye Theatre (2007) and has a role in the forthcoming movie Yohan -Child Wanderer (August 2009).

In February 2009 Alexander Rybak competed in the Norwegian final of the Eurovison Song Contest with a self composed song “Fairytale”. He went on to win with more than 600.000 votes over the second runner up, and “Fairytale” has since sold to triple platinum and still being number one on both the official sales and radio-chart. Alexander is now one of the hottest artists out of Norway.

Alexander Rybak is an artist you will be hearing more from in 2009. He release his debut-album “Fairytales” this summer, and after he will travel around with the dancers in Frikar Dance Company to play festivals and gigs for his fast growing audience.
